Tamil Center Stamford Inc. ("TCSI", "we", "us") is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Stamford, Connecticut. This policy explains what personal information we collect through tamilcenter.org and our admin site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run our community programs, and we never sell your information.
You can sign in with your Google account or with a one-time link sent to your email. We don't store passwords. From your sign-in we receive and keep:
If you sign in with Google, your profile picture may be shown in the site's header while you are signed in; we don't store it.
On the My Profile page you can add your phone number, mailing address and whether you'd like to receive our newsletter and event emails. These are optional (except your first name) and you can change them at any time.
Event tickets and donations are processed by Zeffy, including when the checkout opens inside our website. Your payment details go directly to Zeffy and are never seen or stored by TCSI. Zeffy shares with us the information needed to run the event or acknowledge your gift (such as your name, email and what you purchased or donated). Zeffy's own privacy policy applies to what you enter in their checkout.
To understand how the website is used, we count page views with our own anonymous counter. For each page view we keep the page, the date, the type of device (phone, tablet or computer) and, if you followed a link, the name of the website you came from. We do not store your IP address, set cookies, or keep anything that identifies you: each visit is turned into a one-way code that changes every day and can't be traced back to you or linked across days.
When you're logged in, we also record which pages of the website you open and when, linked to your member account. We use this only to understand how members use the site, it's visible only to a few senior TCSI administrators, and it's deleted after one year. Visitors who aren't logged in are never recorded this way.
We may also use Google Analytics to see overall trends such as visitor numbers, countries and the pages people read. Google Analytics uses cookies and Google processes this information under Google's privacy policy. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't load it at all if your browser sends a “Global Privacy Control” or “Do Not Track” signal. You can also block it with Google's opt-out add-on.
We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't track you across other websites. Apart from Google Analytics (above), your browser stores a few small items so the site works: your sign-in session (managed by Google Firebase) so you stay signed in, your first name so the header can greet you quickly, your choices such as the colour theme and calendar filters, and short-lived items such as the email address you used to request a sign-in link.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't share it with other organizations for their marketing.
All pages are served over encrypted HTTPS. Sign-ins are verified on our server on every request, access to member information is limited by role, database passwords are kept outside the website, and administrative changes are logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will let affected members know if a breach occurs.
We keep your account and profile while you are a TCSI member. If an account is deactivated, it can no longer sign in, and its details are kept so the membership can be restored. You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see below). Records of administrative changes are kept for accountability.
Member accounts are intended for adults. Children's participation in programs such as Arumbu Tamil School is arranged by their parents or guardians. We don't knowingly let children under 13 create accounts; if you believe a child has done so, please contact us and we'll remove it.
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll let members know.
